Cloudera promotes Picard to new EMEA VP

$3.63bn US big data cloud vendor says Romain Picard will drive a renewed ‘brand momentum in Europe’

Cloudera has today announced that Romain Picard will be its new EMEA VP.

The $3.63bn US enterprise data cloud vendor says he will be tasked with driving new "brand momentum across Europe".

Based in Paris, Picard (pictured) is an inside hire, having been at Cloudera since 2014.

Prior to that, he was head of EMEA software sales at German giant SAP.

Picard's most recent role was as SEMEA regional VP for Cloudera.

"Businesses across all sectors are in a constant state of evaluation and evolution. And digital transformation is driving new business models and opportunities," he said.

"To seize these, enterprises have to have the right data strategy in place. It is the difference between being a market leader or laggard.

"I am extremely energised to take on this new role because I firmly believe that our platform drives the business value companies need, in order to be digitally successful. We've got the right technology, the right team, an incredible partner ecosystem and excellent momentum."

He will report to chief operating officer, Scott Aronson.

Picard will also be responsible for matching the development of any new Cloudera's services and products with the changing needs of customers as the market changes.

"Romain's strategic vision and strong, collaborative leadership has enabled us to work with some of the most innovative companies in Europe," he said.

"As we look to the future, I have every confidence that, working with the strong team we have in EMEA, Romain is going to super charge our growth across the region. I know he will achieve great things in his new role.
