Cloud distie Pax8 breaks into mainland Europe with Resello acquisition

The buy follows a $96m cash injection in January

Cloud commerce marketplace Pax8 has snapped up Netherlands-based distributor Resello for an undisclosed sum.

US-based Pax8 claims the buy allows it to expand to more than 40 countries across Europe.

"Digital transformation has never been more urgent, and we are helping partners realise the benefits, value, and impact to businesses," said Pax8 CEO, John Street.

"The acquisition enables us to continue to expand our presence into international markets, add localised support, and accelerate and scale cloud adoption worldwide."

Founded in 2013 and headquartered in Zwolle, Resello bills itself as a cloud services distributor and Microsoft CSP Indirect Provider.

The Dutch company says it works with 1,000 partners in 15 languages across more than 100 countries, including 40 in Europe.

"As a fast-growing organisation with a shared vision of accelerating cloud growth in the IT market, we are excited about the Pax8 acquisition," said Resello MD, Harald Nuij.

"This alignment provides us with more resources to solve the challenges our partners face in the digital age so they can better automate, add value, and reach new growth trajectories.

"Together, we will be able to expand our partner base and have the technology and resources to meet the growing market demand for enterprise-grade cloud solutions."

The acquisition follows the $96m (€81m) new funding raised by Pax8 in January.

Street said the funds would allow the distributor to "expand globally into new geographies".

Moreover, in a recent interview with CRN, Phylip Morgan, Pax8's UK channel boss, where the company it first launched in January, revealed its international expansion drive won't stop at the UK.

"You'll see some news from us in the next couple of months about western Europe, and you'll see some stuff coming from us about APAC and other areas, as we expand globally," he said.
