Which reseller is new tech partner for 'world's greenest football club'?
Sumillion hits back of net with Forest Green Rovers partnership
A football club branded "the world's greenest" has formed a technology and innovation partnership with IT reseller Sumillion.
Sumillion has been enlisted to boost the efficiency of Forest Green Rover's infrastructure and reduce the environmental impact of its IT, the duo claim.
Based in Nailsworth, Gloucestershire, the League 2 outfit was hailed in 2017 by FIFA as the "greenest football club in the world".
It claims to be the first to be certified as carbon neutral by the UN, as well as the only vegan football club.
Its ‘innocent New Lawn' stadium has an organic pitch, the grass on which is cut by a GPS-directed, solar-powered lawnmower. The entire club is powered by 100 per cent green energy from Ecotricity, some of which it generates itself through solar panels.
Sumillion has been tasked with helping improve outcomes "on and off the pitch", including by installing digital signage and providing fitness devices and wellbeing reports to players.
David Manners, director at Sumillion (pictured above, left), said: "I'm absolutely delighted to partner with a company that share so many common values around inclusivity, sustainability, wellbeing and the environment."
Henry Staelens, CEO at Forest Green Rovers, said: "We've got big plans at FGR, and lots of these require innovative but practical technology solutions. Sumillion's expertise, coupled with their environmental stance, will be helpful as we move forward".
