Chess bolsters security offering with acquisition of penetration testing services firm

Technology provider Chess has announced the acquisition of Armadillo - a firm which provides penetration testing services for both government and commercial organisations.

Chess claims the acquisition of the Stevenage-based firm means security will now represent over 20 per cent of the group's entire sales.

David Pollock, Chess founder and executive chairman, said: "Cybersecurity is critical for our customers and businesses around the world.

"Cyber threats, hackers and ransomware attacks are more proficient and prolific every day. Business leaders need to make informed decisions about securing their data, and penetration testing is the first step to establishing what needs to be done.

"Armadillo's expertise further strengthens our capability to deliver end to end services to our enterprise customers."

Chess' cybersecurity team serves over 1,000 enterprise businesses and government organisations and includes security, managed and professional services in its portfolio.

Armadillo is accredited by the likes of CREST, STAR, GBEST and the NCSC as a green light company authorised to perform CHECK ITHC assessments for government departments.

"We are delighted to be joining Chess and helping their wide selection of customers secure their organisations," Daniel Compton, director and founder of Armadillo, said.

"Being part of a bigger business has many benefits and opens new growth opportunities to our security consultants' team."
