Government launches £2bn big data and analytics framework
Framework is divided into two lots and will be available to use by government and public sector bodies
The Crown Commercial Service (CCS) is advertising a tender for a big data and analytics framework worth an estimated £2bn for use by government and public sector bodies.
The pan government collaborative agreement for the provision of big data and analytics will be utilised by central government departments and all other UK public sector bodies, including local authorities, health, police, fire and rescue, education and devolved administrations.
It will "offer a central route to market for all big data and analytics requirements", the CCS says, by "offering a range of buying options and pricing mechanisms".
Lot one of the framework focuses on the designing, building and running of big data and analytics services across one or more of the six defined capabilities: advanced analytics and cognitive, data management and acquisition; data risking; platform services; reporting and dashboards; and search and discovery services.
Lot two, meanwhile, concentrates on commercial off-the-shelf software and the provision of the software specifically for big data and analytics capabilities, which the CCS says will be available as either on-prem, cloud, or hybrid.
Capabilities listed for the software are big data management; data mining, risking and science; machine learning and artificial intelligence; reporting and analytics; and search and data discovery.
