Ultima nabs Softcat technology head as new cloud solutions director

Ultima names James Hunnybourne as its new cloud solutions director while Gareth Meyer is promoted to become COO

Ultima has appointed former Softcat head james Hunnybourne as its cloud solutions director, while also promoting Gareth Meyer to COO.

Hunnybourne joins from reseller giant Softcat, where he was head of technology services and solutions, while Meyer, who has been with Ultima since 2017, previously served as its commercial and operations director.

"These two appointments come at a fantastic time as we look to drive our business forwards. Gareth has contributed hugely to the company over the years, and I'm delighted he will be leading our global expansion and continuing to ensure excellent business outcomes for our customers," Scott Dodds, CEO of Ultima, said.

"James brings with him a wealth of experience in cloud and customer experience excellence. I know he will contribute significantly to the development of our cloud offering and use his passion for culture and people to develop his team."

Ultima, which dubs itself as a cloud specialist and automation service provider, claims it has a turnover of £123m and has partners including Cisco, Dell, HPE and Microsoft.

Hunnybourne highlighted Ultima's cloud capabilities as a reason behind making the move from Softcat.

"Ultima has a phenomenal amount of capability in cloud and has developed some truly innovative IP of its own which I know will help improve many companies' cloud journey," he said.
