IBM spin-off Kyndryl earns Premier Global Alliance Partner status with AWS

Kyndryl - the breakaway company formed by the separation of IBM's infrastructure services unit - has announced a new partnership with public cloud giant AWS.

The partnership sees Kyndryl achieve Premier Global Alliance Partner status and will involve the two establishing a Cloud Centre of Excellence (CCOE) to develop joint solutions including services for mission critical infrastructure, mainframe network and edge computing services, and ERP.

"Our ability to freely explore and unleash the combined benefits of AWS cloud services with Kyndryl's deep industry-specific managed services and expertise will provide an unprecedented level of knowledge and innovation," said Martin Schroeter, chairman and CEO of Kyndryl.

"Together, we will invest in enhancing Kyndryl's expertise in AWS to help companies modernise, innovate, and compete."

Kyndryl claims the new CCOE will allow its partners across the globe to "optimise their customers' migration journeys with AWS" by "tapping into the availability, reliability, and security of the AWS cloud".

Both companies have also announced that they are developing an accelerator for VMware Cloud on AWS, which they claim will see practitioners from AWS, VMware, and Kyndryl deliver "deep expertise and custom solutions to help the world's largest enterprises combine their existing VMware investments with AWS services".

Kyndryl, which also has partnerships with both Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud, claims to have already "invested heavily" in its AWS offering and plans to further invest in the education of more than 10,000 Kyndryl services professionals by the end of 2022.

"By combining forces with Kyndryl, we are helping customers of all sizes to modernise faster than ever before, grow their businesses, and transform what's possible," said Adam Selipsky, CEO at AWS.

"Together, we are committed to educating, empowering, and enabling thousands of AWS certified practitioners and developing joint solutions that will accelerate customers' journeys and help them innovate on the world's leading cloud."
