AVI-SPL acquires Dublin-based AV integrator Sonics

Audiovisual reseller AVI-SPL has agreed to acquire Dublin-based AV integration specialist Sonics.

Zoom, Sennheiser, Poly and Logitech partner Sonics provides modern workplace solutions to businesses across Ireland and Europe, partnering with vendors like Zoom, NEC, Polytech and LG.

AVI-SPL claims it sees "tremendous growth opportunity with Sonics in its local market" and hopes to bolster its operations there, while it also plans to "significantly strengthen its capabilities in Europe and beyond".

"There is a natural fit for our two organisations," said Michael Kellaway, managing director UK and Ireland, AVI-SPL.

"Both companies have led the way in creating customer success with leading-edge AV and unified communications deployments and exceptional day-two services to support them.

"I'm thrilled to welcome Sonics to our team."

The acquisition is expected to close next week and will see Sonics become an extension of the existing AVI-SPL UK team.

AVI-SPL was itself acquired by US-based Marlin in February 2020 and was merged with fellow AV specialist Whitlock.

Steven McKenna, managing director of Sonics, said: "We've worked extremely hard in Ireland over the past 16 years to become an established and trusted AV systems integrator known for our engineering pedigree - and that's something I'm extremely proud of.

"Having successfully collaborated with AVI-SPL on projects as a partner, we've had only positive experiences working together through a common shared focus on delivering great projects. This news is really exciting for the future of the team here in Ireland."
