Target Components appoints new MD
Distributor completes long search for new MD after Paul Cubbage moved to non-exec position last year
Target Components has appointed a new managing director after the departure of former boss Paul Cubbage last year.
After a "lengthy process" that lasted "many months" Target Components has appointed Michael Lawrence as its new managing director.
Lawrence will be tasked with driving Target Component's growth strategy and overseeing the company's continued emphasis on people development and customer service, the distributor claims.
A qualified CIMA accountant, Lawrence has 20 years of experience in manufacturing and distribution and was previously regional general manager for Northern Europe at security, AV and low-voltage product distributor ADI Global. He has also served as finance director at Capita-owned science and research business Fera Science.
"I am incredibly excited by the opportunity here. I believe I have joined a great business with a set of values consistent with my own. Target places major emphasis on customer focus and that principle is something I will foster and develop further. I believe we have the perfect platform for growth and implementing the strategy and plans to deliver that goal will be my primary focus," he said.
Target Components began a search for a new managing director in July last year after Paul Cubbage stepped down to take a non-executive position in the company.
The West Yorkshire-based distributor also became an employee-owned business, which saw its 70 employees becoming majority owners.
Cubbage retained a stake in the Target Components business following the ownership change.
The former MD said that the distributor received more than 150 credible applications for the managing director role from candidates both within and outside the IT channel.
"It's been a lengthy process to find the ideal person to lead us forward, with the drive, intelligence, skills and experience to take us forwards combined with values that closely align to our ethos as a business. After many months, much interest from within and beyond the channel and over 150 credible applicants, I'm delighted to boil it down to one outstanding candidate," he said.
