HPE opens GreenLake up to distie marketplaces in bid to reach 100,000 partners

ALSO, Arrow, Ingram and TD Synnex can now sell Greenlake via their cloud marketplaces

HPE has made its GreenLake available through the marketplaces of four distributors as it looks to grow partner adoption of the as-a-service offering in the channel.

GreenLake will now be available in the online marketplaces of European distributor ALSO Group, as well as global giants Arrow Electronics, Ingram Micro and TD Synnex - a move which HPE says will reach more than 100,000 partners.

The expansion of its Greenlake ecosystem comes while also adding new cloud services to create a new "unified operating experience".

The new cloud services include the addition of Aruba to the platform, and new developments in block storage, backup and recovery, high performance computing and compute ops management.

GreenLake will now be accessed as a "simplified experience", HPE claims, with one view of all services, while the convergence with Aruba Central adds 120,000 Aruba networking customers to the platform.

"Where we've really pivoted over the last 12 to 18 months is the architecture of the platform - bringing every service within HPE onto a single platform," Fidelma Russo, HPE's chief technology officer said.

"Now, with this announcement, every business unit within HPE will have cloud services that will be on the GreenLake cloud platform, that will be consumed with a single experience for the user, single experience for the partner and will make everything much easier to consume in an as-a-service motion.

"We're adding a significant amount of services within the networking area - bringing our Aruba portfolio completely on to the platform. We're expanding our compute services and our data services, and also expanding areas within high performance and in HCI."

HPE says that the addition of its Aruba services is "optimised" for channel partners and is able to operate in a resale or managed service provider model.

The company saw as-a-service orders grow 136 per cent year-on-year in Q1 2022 and claims that over 100,000 customers will be on the platform following the addition of its Aruba services.

More than 900 partners are also now on the platform, according to HPE, and the company's VP of marketing for GreenLake, Flynn Maloy, says the vendor is continuing to put its efforts into expanding its channel sales for the as-a-service platform.

"Our end goal is to have the same percentage of GreenLake direct and indirect business as we do for HPE overall. It started as more of a direct business and we've been working hard over the last three years at building out a channel programme," he said.
