Dell's 'modernised' IT disposal service comes to the UK
UK channel boss Rob Tomlin says offering will remove complexity for channel partners
Dell is bringing its 'modernised' IT disposal services to the UK, in a move which UK channel boss Rob Tomlin says will address existing concerns for partners around retiring assets.
The vendor today launched its Asset Recovery Services to the UK, which it claims will provide a "modern, simplified and standardised offer to help customers scale their recycling efforts".
This includes a new online portal that "makes it simple" to retire and recycle any laptop, desktop, server or accessory regardless of brand.
Dell says the self-service portal simplifies asset disposition "even more" and provides businesses with real-time value estimates, comprehensive resources and streamlined takeback of devices.
Asset Recovery Services is available through Dell Technologies and its channel partners.
Stuart Nyemecz, vice president & head of UK enterprise sales at Dell Technologies, said: "Businesses understand the urgency of the e-waste crisis and want to adopt more circular IT strategies, including the resale, repair, or recycling of their end of use equipment. Still, we know the risks associated with data security and environmental liability can feel overwhelming.
"Worries about IT systems ending up in a landfill or data falling into the wrong hands are enough to keep the best IT decision-maker awake at night.
"Our modernised, simplified Asset Recovery Service offers customers peace of mind, helping them retire IT equipment securely and sustainably and unlock the value in those old devices for future innovation."
Asset Recovery Services is also now offering extra options for added protection when customers turn in their devices.
This includes onsite data sanitisation, with data cleared from devices onsite before the equipment leaves a customer's facility.
People can also opt for an onsite hard-drive shred, which will see hard drives with data disposed of through physical destruction and recycled according to local guidelines.
Dell also said that there are no unit minimums for businesses of all sizes, whether managing a central or remote workforce.
Rob Tomlin, vice president UK channel at Dell Technologies, said: "The truth is, asset valuation and recovery can be complex; many channel partners have expressed concern regarding the time management and compliance implications surrounding IT asset disposition.
"Our refreshed offering addresses all of these issues. By modernising the experience with an online portal and built-in tools, we're giving partners the flexibility to support their business goals and customer needs."
