Microsoft moving into 'next era of hybrid work' with new Windows 11 integrations

Microsoft has announced it is aiming to offer better integrations for Windows 11 between its cloud and local PCs in a move that it claims will bring "the next era of hybrid work".

The vendor giant says it will soon deliver new integrations that "bring the power of Windows 11 and Windows 365 together".

It is currently working on three new Windows 365 features that will be part of the integration process.

One of these is Windows 365 Boot, which is set to allow users to be able to boot straight to their Cloud PC in just one step.

"It allows different users to log in directly to their own personal and secure Windows 365 Cloud PC with their credentials," Wangui McKelvey, general manager at Microsoft 365, said.

Another feature is Windows 365 Switch, which should allow users to quickly switch between cloud and local PCs with a single click.

This will be made a bit easier with a new native app, Microsoft claims, that allows users to get straight to their Windows 365 Cloud PC from the taskbar or Start menu.

The third integration will be Windows 365 Offline, which will allow users to work offline and then automatically resync without losing any data.

"These scenarios are powerful for businesses, and they are just the beginning of our Windows and Microsoft cloud integration," Panos Panay, Chief Product Officer for Windows + Devices, said.

"Windows 11 and Windows 365 are ready to take us all into the next era of hybrid work. Now is the time to move your business to Windows 11 and Windows 365.

"We are building Windows for the future, to support the future of your business, offering organizations the most secure, manageable and productive Windows experience on the planet."

He also highlighted that cybersecurity issues and risks top the list of concerns for business decision makers in the year ahead, citing data from Microsoft‘s 2022 Work Trend Index.

He added: "With built-in chip to cloud protection, Windows 11 is here to help organizations meet the new security challenges of the hybrid workplace, now and in the future."
