Kaseya CEO assures Datto partners brand is 'going nowhere' following acquisition

Kaseya's CEO has reassured partners that the Datto brand "is going nowhere" following its $6.2bn acquisition of the company.

"Change scares of all of us," Fred Voccola said in an interview with CRN. "But we want to give more choice, more options, more integration, more resources: that's what we do every time we buy someone."

The Miami-based software giant MSP acquired Datto in April, with the deal expected to close in the second half of 2022.

Voccola said he could not go into the specific detail of the acquisition and admitted that the absence of information can cause fear, doubt and uncertainty to creep in.

"That's normal," Voccola said, who added that the plan is to "embrace Datto's culture" instead of changing the brand.

"The Datto brand is going nowhere," he said.

"We made 12 acquisitions over the last seven years and each time, we've followed a playbook that allows us to keep the culture and bring the good things from that company into us."

More investment for partners

He added that Kaseya plans to make the Datto brand "better" and sought to assure its partners over the move.

"Every single piece of technology that you are working with will have an increased investment. We're not discontinuing products, we're not forcing migrations, we're not changing, we're not going to force a change of business models either.

"We're not going to force a change of commercial terms, we're not going to force a change of products that you're using.

"We are not changing the name, the culture, we're not going to rip out all the support. We are going to keep what makes Datto awesome. Everything you like about Datto we're going to do our damnedest to keep it."

He also explained that the deal will see partners given more options and that the playbook should not change.

Voccola added: "We want to make it better. We want to give more choice, more options, more integration, more resources, that's what we do every time we buy someone and that playbook should not change.

"The most important thing in this business is our MSP customers. We're trying to make the experience better."

Growing together

He also said the deal will see a "huge influx" of new people that are going to bring new ideas.

"I think our growth rate will increase because Datto has great products and every Datto customer will be now part of IT Complete.

"They will see the benefits of the deep integration and the huge financial benefits of buying technology from Kaseya. MSPs will be able to buy more technology because they spend less for technology that they get from Kaseya.

"The technicians will be much more efficient, the MSPs will have less vendor fatigue. So what that means is they're going to want to work with Kaseya more."
