Hess steps down as CEO of Telefónica Tech UK&I

Martin Hess has stepped down as the CEO of Telefónica Tech UK&I and will be replaced by the firm's vice president of sales and marketing Mark Gorton.

Hess will stay with the company and will now focus on longer-term strategic growth, both in the UK&I and worldwide, Telefónica Tech said.

Gorton played an "instrumental role" in the growth of Cancom UK&I, which was sold to Telefónica Tech in July 2021, the Microsoft partner added, and also in the acquisition of Incremental Group in March this year.

Dominic Arcari is also joining the company to replace Gorton as VP of sales and marketing from Amazon Web Services, where he most recently served as EMEA global system integrators partner sales lead.

"I am incredibly proud of the journey our business has been on and where we have got to in a relatively short space of time and I am confident that Mark and Dominic will continue this same upward curve," Hess said.

The Spanish solutions provider recently bolstered its Microsoft capabilities with the acquisition of Dynamics partner Incremental in March for a price of up to £175m.

It followed the acquisition of Cancom's UK&I operations for €398m, with Hess telling CRN in October last year that Telefónica Tech UK&I had set its sights set on being the "leader in cloud and cyber in the UK and Ireland".

The company is now eyeing further growth in the public sector, particularly in healthcare, it said.

Gorton said: "I am excited to have the opportunity to continue building on the magnificent work done to date by Martin Hess, and I am delighted that Dominic Arcari is joining the Telefónica Tech team.

"As an experienced sales leader, he will play an important part in accelerating our continued growth in cloud, cybersecurity, and modern workplace, and consolidating our position as a market leader in the UK and Ireland."
