Microsoft partners can now change term duration of CSP subscriptions

Vendor announces the change in a blog post to partners

Microsoft partners can now change the term duration of a Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) subscription with a promotion mid-term, the vendor has announced.

The change must be to a term duration that is available on the vendor's Partner Centre and any midterm changes will take effect immediately.

Mid-term updates to a CSP subscription's duration remove any changes that may have been scheduled.

Previously, promotions being applied to CSP subscriptions disabled immediate term changes.

Microsoft also added that if a promotion is available for the term and billing cycle that the CSP subscription will have after it has changed, then the promotion will be applied automatically.

The vendor is currently in the process of shifting partners over to its New Commerce Experience but last month said it would indefinitely push back the date for which CSPs can sell automatically renewed "legacy" subscriptions.

The vendor had previously announced a deadline of 11 July for the end of auto-renewals of those subscriptions, meaning CSP partners would then have to transact everything through Microsoft's New Commerce Experience.

Last week, the company also announced the appointment of a new chief partner officer in Nicole Dezen, following the departure of former channel chief Rodney Clark.
