Westcoast MD Tatham departs for global sales role at UK-based reseller
Tatham joined the company in 2009 as sales and marketing director before taking up the position of managing director in 2014
Westcoast's MD Alex Tatham has confirmed he is leaving the distributor after 14 years to join a UK-based reseller.
Tatham joined Westcoast in 2009 as sales and marketing director before taking up the position of managing director in 2014.
Westcoast has grown its annual revenues from £600m in 2007 to become the UK's largest privately-owned IT business and technology distributor with £3.7bn in revenues during Tatham's time at the distributor.
He confirmed his departure from the business in a LinkedIn post and described his time there as "extraordinary".
He said: "Proud, emotional and a host of other emotions as I announce that I will be leaving Westcoast.
"After 25 years in distribution, there are too many people to say thank you to - but clearly the last 14 years at Westcoast has been extraordinary.
"Developing the UK's leading distributor and shouting about its success has been a phenomenal ride and I leave the business with a superb team and giant reputation.
"Thank you to all the vendors that have and continue to help and customers that have trusted us with their business and particularly those that have supported me personally. It's a wonderful channel and one that I can shout about from a different (reseller!) direction in the future."
Tatham is taking up the role of global head of clients and marketing at NSC Global where he will look to emulate Westcoast's growth for the reseller both in the UK and globally.
He will be based in London, with sales, pre-sales, marketing and account support functions reporting into him.
Tatham will finish executive duties at Westcoast on 31 July before joining NSC on 26 September.
In a statement sent to CRN, Tatham said it has been his "immense privilege" to have worked with Westcoast.
He said: "These past years have been the most joyous of my 25 year career in IT distribution. The Westcoast future is brighter than ever with new vendors, new initiatives and new opportunities for Westcoast to capitalise on."
Westcoast said the board and all employees will "miss Alex's passion, enthusiasm and energy".
"We wish him all the success in his new venture and thank him for his 14 years of dedicated service and friendship," it said.
