Fujitsu wins £48m contract to support Police National Computer
The contract runs from April 2022 to March 2026
Fujitsu has retained a contract to provide mainframe support and maintenance for the Police National Computer (PNC) following a lack of competition.
The contract awarded to the Japanese Giant is worth £48m and runs from April 2022 to March 2026.
Recently published Home Office procurement documents show this was a single tender action, meaning it is a direct contract with a single supplier, without competition.
This was done due "to lack of response from market following market engagement," documents show.
PNC is a system that stores and shares criminal records information across the UK.
Law enforcement agencies use it to access information that will support national, regional and local investigations, the Acro website says.
The contract Fujitsu has been awarded relate to a data centre in Hendon and disaster recovery facilities.
"Fujitsu are enabling police forces to stay one step ahead of crime by co-creating to deliver rapid and bespoke digital technology and connected services," FuJitsu's website says.
"Our human centric approach puts people at the heart of our technology to ensure our solutions are secure, resilient and cost effective."
