VMware channel leader Swales joins Lenovo
Bill Swales announced he will be moving to Lenovo in mid-October
VMware channel leader Bill Swales has announced he is leaving the vendor to join Lenovo.
Swales joined the cloud giant in 2018 as VP of global commercial sales before moving to the role of VP and channel chief of its Americas partner organisation.
He announced in a LinkedIn post that he will be moving to Lenovo in mid-October, although did not specify what job.
In his farewell post, he said "our paths will absolutely cross again", hinting the role could involve partners.
Swales added that he was "beyond proud" of the work his VMware Americas partner team accomplished.
"The best part of my job has been working with an amazing leadership team who truly embraces VMware's "EPIC2 Values" of Execution, People/Passion, Integrity, Customer and Community," he said.
"I am just as excited about the next chapter in my career journey that will be kicking off in mid October at Lenovo. Stay tuned for more on that later.
"A special ‘Thank You' to my direct reports who I consider to be one of the best leadership teams that I have ever had the privilege to work with and our amazing Partner Ecosystem for the past few years."
In May Broadcom reached an agreement to acquire VMware in a deal worth approximately $61bn.
It is one of the biggest acquisitions to affect the channel since Dell acquired EMC in 2016 for $67bn.
