'An inspiring role model for us all': Industry chiefs pay tribute to the Queen's 70 years of leadership
The industry pays its respects after Queen Elizabeth II died yesterday at the age of 96
Industry chiefs from the UK and around the world have paid tribute to the Queen's 70 years of leadership after she passed away yesterday at her Scottish home Balmoral.
The UK's longest-serving monarch oversaw 15 prime ministers and 13 US presidents during her reign which span from 1952-2022.
Leaders from the UK channel have penned tributes on social media to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II's 70 years of leadership and service to the country.
Mary Hunter, business applications lead for Europe at Accenture, and Distology CEO Hayley Roberts both described the Queen as an inspiring role model.
"RIP Her Majesty. An inspiring role model for us all after 70 years service. Queen of our hearts," Hunter wrote on LinkedIn.
"An amazing role model and dignified leader. Hard to believe she is gone. RIP your majesty. The world will miss you," Roberts said in a post.
Andy Gomarsall, Former England Rugby Union player and current executive chairman of IT lifecycle services firm N2S, posted a photograph of himself together with his England rugby teammates and the Queen after winning the rugby union World Cup in 2003.
Alongside the photograph, Gomarsall wrote: "Her leadership was one of a kind. The most famous woman on the planet, Head of State of 15 countries, 7 decades of leadership! An inspiration to my girls, we are all so grateful for your reign. Thankyou Ma'am"
Bosses of UK resellers have also reacted to the tragic news, with Total Computers MD Aidan Groom describing Queen Elizabeth II as "the epitome of a great leader".
SHI UK's managing director Donavan Hutchinson meanwhile described Her Majesty's reign across the UK and the Commonwealth as "nothing other than legendary".
"You will not be forgotten and will always be in our hearts and minds," he wrote on LinkedIn.
Dell founder Michael Dell and Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins were among the tech leaders from across the globe to have also taken to social media to express their sadness and pay tribute.
"We share in the world's sadness at the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. We send our sincere and heartfelt condolences to the British Royal Family and to the many people across the world mourning her loss," Dell said on Twitter.
"My heart goes out to the Royal Family and everyone affected by the passing of Her Majesty the Queen. Her steadfast leadership through historic times leaves a lasting legacy that will forever be remembered. Rest in peace," Robbins also wrote on Twitter.
CEO of Swiss based firm Prime Computer, Sacha Ghiglione, meanwhile pointed to Queen Elizabeth II's "strong sense of duty."
