Civica makes new acquisition following sale of licencing business to SCC

Civica has acquired The Technology Forge in a move it claims is a "core" part of its growth strategy.

Leeds SaaS-based The Technology Forge supports strategic asset management using its property and asset management cloud software.

It also supports local authorities across the UK as well as the wider public sector.

The deal will see its software and SaaS property now be offered as part of Civica's offering.

A statement said this adds "further capability" to the business.

"Complementary and targeted acquisitions form a core part of Civica's global growth strategy," it added.

This comes after Civica's licensing and cloud software lifecycle (LCSL) was acquired by VAR giant SCC earlier this year.

Civica's LCSL business contributed to overall software and related services revenue of £346.7m for the year 2020, its financial results show.

SCC said the acquisition of Civica's LCSL team and its existing customer and partner relationships will "increase SCC's presence in the cloud software lifecycle market" and "strengthen its successful software licensing and software asset management (SAM) businesses".

Speaking about the Technology Forge acquisition, Civica CEO Wayne Story said: "With leaner budgets, ever tighter regulation, and the climate crisis, managing buildings in a compliant, cost-efficient and sustainable manner is a growing challenge for public bodies, especially for those with large property portfolios.

"Trusted by local authorities across the UK, as well as the wider public sector, The Technology Forge's property and asset management solution adds an important new capability to Civica's broad software offering.

"With these new capabilities, we are strongly positioned to deliver even better outcomes for our customers right across the public sector."

Mark Wardman, founder of The Technology Forge, added the move sees it "embark on a new chapter".

"With the new capabilities afforded by our property and asset management solution, Civica will be better able to help councils and other public sector organisations deal with the challenges they face today - and prepare for those of tomorrow," he said.
