Managed print reseller XBM acquires iDOC to boost sustainability credentials
It comes with XBM looking to expand its business through heat-free ink jet printing.
Office technology supplier XBM has acquired iDOC Services as it looks to expand its business through heat-free ink jet printing.
iDOC is a UK wide reseller of Epson's heat-free inkjet printers and other digital document solutions.
Yorkshire-based XBM claims iDOC has a "diverse and loyal customer-base", with many committed to the energy and waste-saving proposition of Epson's heat-free inkjet solutions.
Richard Taylor, XBM MD, said it acquired the company as it wants to "lead the expansion of our business with future-proof technologies".
"Epson's eco-conscious print portfolio is standing out in this area," he said.
The acquisition comes after XBM announced its plans to expand through acquisitions and new business at their Q3 launch in July 2022.
Taylor added: "Sustainability has never been more prominent in the print industry and acquiring another dealer and customer base that shares this sentiment only strengthens our pursuit to become the UK's leading managed print provider."
Recent research from Epson and Cambridge University reveals that printers are responsible for around 2.5 mega tonnes of CO2 emissions each year, and a worldwide switch from laser to inkjet printers could reduce these emissions by up to 52.6 per cent
Mark Moore, the outgoing MD of iDOC Services, said: "Our priority for the acquisition is ensuring the consistency of good service for our customers across the country, and with XBM I know we're leaving them in good hands.
"It's also important to know iDOC is remaining a part of the Epson family and that its legacy for reducing the environmental impact of its customers through the technology they use will live on through XBM."
