Audio-visual distributor Midwich will now provide staff with supermarket and fuel vouchers as well as food and toiletries as part of a new cost-of-living initiative.

The Norfolk-based distributor will implement a so-called "cost-of-living package" from its head office in Diss throughout September and October which it claims will benefit all its 350-plus staff.

As part of the initiative, Midwich staff will have access to supermarket and fuel vouchers and will be able to take home "everyday items" such as food, toiletries and cleaning products.

Midwich will also provide staff with hot and cold lunches and offer hot drinks, biscuits and cakes through its onside café.

Staff will be able to take home "family treat bags" which will include sweets, hot chocolate and popcorn.

There will also be "help-yourself" firewood provided to all staff to help heat their homes.

Midwich said it will stage themed "all-welcome" days in the office where staff can take part in promotions, competitions and visit local food vendors.

Any goods not used by staff will be donated to Waveney food bank at Hope Church in Diss, Midwich claims.

"We have worked really hard in recent years to continually improve what we offer our people," said UK and Ireland managing director Mark Lowe.

"We have paid particular attention to regularly reviewing salaries and perks. We also operate meaningful incentives like our profit-share scheme and free share awards.

"In addition to this, if there are small gestures that we can make to help our people whilst the cost-of living is high, then we are absolutely committed to doing everything that we can.

"We have plenty more ideas and have recruited a full-time person to help with this."
