National Highways' £1bn IT framework goes live

Why life's a highway for 119 tech suppliers on £1bn framework

A £1bn framework designed to satisfy the technology needs of National Highways has gone live with 119 suppliers.

Softcat, Computacenter, SCC, Bytes and Insight are among the resellers to win a place on the government-owned company's IT Technology Commercial Framework, which will run for four years.

National Highways, which looks after England's motorways and major roads, said the framework will act as the primary commercial vehicle to support its digital services and technology pipeline.

Originally slated to go live in March, it is divided into 18 Lots, including Hardware Infrastructure and Platforms, Workplace Hardware, Software COTS/SaaS and Cyber Security and Data Protection.

Stone, Avanade, Version 1, boxxe, Daisy Corporate Services, Incremental and XMA are among the other well-known channel names to taste success on the framework, with IT services giants such as Atos, Accenture, Fujitsu Services and Wipro also present and correct.

Dean Mason, managing director of Teqex (pictured below), which won a place on four Lots, said the accomplishment builds on the Manchester-based reseller's partnerships with HP, Dell and Lenovo in the public sector and will enable it to expand and recruit more staff.

Description

"When we applied for the framework I didn't think it'd be one we'd get on. Getting on it, and getting on four Lots especially, is a massive achievement for the company and really puts our name up there," he told CRN.

"As the MD, I'm happy with where Teqex is going. We're nine years old now and we're proving ourselves by getting on multiple frameworks."

With an estimated value of £1bn, the framework will officially run from 13 September 2022 to 12 September 2026.

CRN was awaiting comment from the National Highways agency as this story went to press.
