Civica starts new chapter as CEO Wayne Story resigns

Public sector software supplier Civica has announced that its CEO Wayne Story has retired from the business.

Story has been succeeded by Lee Perkins who took the helm of the company as the new group CEO yesterday (November 15), Civica has told CRN.

Story will formally retire from Civica on 31 December.

"During his tenure, Wayne significantly expanded Civica's global reach and increased our market leading software product capability, whilst at the same time retaining our unique culture and values," said Civica founder and group chair, Simon Downing.

"I'd like to take this opportunity on behalf of our Civica team and board to express gratitude to Wayne for his tireless contribution over the years and in particular, his leadership in successfully navigating us all through an unprecedented global pandemic - providing calm and clear direction and a reassuring ‘voice' in uncertain times and leaving the business in such a strong position."

Story first joined Civica in 2015 to head up the company as CEO.

Prior to this he was group CEO for the private equity backed services and payments group Equiniti.

He has extensive experience and management record with growth businesses including Capita Group, TSB Group and PA Consulting, and in 2017 led the strategic private equity investment in Civica by Partners Group on behalf of its clients.

Story currently serves as board chair at GatenbySanderson, the UK's public sector search and selection group.

Description

Taking over is Civica's UK CEO Lee Perkins, who first joined the group this year when he was appointed to the role in October to head up UK operations and support its growth plans in the region and internationally.

Perkins has held a number of senior positions in the UK technology sector over the past two decades including UK MD and latterly Group COO at Sage, CEO M247 (formerly Metronet Group) and, earlier in his career, UK MD of Techdata.

"I'm delighted to welcome Lee Perkins into the role," Downing added.

"As a seasoned executive, his experience of operating international software businesses at scale and leading transformation programmes particularly around SaaS and go-to-market, means he's well placed to build on our strong foundations, as we accelerate our growth in 2023 and beyond."
