Cloud marketplace distributor Pax8 has announced the appointment of Mostyn Thomas as its new senior director of security.

He previously worked with Pax8 to support the delivery of the company's Cyber Security Masterclass events.

Thomas now joins distributor full-time where he will run the company's channel security operations, working with partners to "reduce risk, gain efficiencies, and grow their businesses".

Before joining ax8 he was the founder and director of cybersecurity MSP Astrix, based in Cardiff.

Pax8 chief revenue officer Phylip Morgan said: "We have been closely working with Mostyn for a while now, and he has been doing a fantastic job providing vital cybersecurity training to our partners.

"His experience as a former managed services provider (MSP) is invaluable to our community, and he is a natural fit to join our business.

He added: "Not only will we be able to increase our specialised cybersecurity training, but he will play a pivotal role in Pax8's continued expansion into Europe, allowing us to partner with more first-class security vendors."

Thomas has more than 20 years of experience working with MSPs.

Before founding Astrix, he worked in the IT departments of a local authority and Panasonic.

Commenting on his appointment, Thomas said:

"I am thrilled to join Pax8 at such an important phase of its growth in Europe.

"I am looking forward to working closely with partners to ensure they have the best training and solutions to get ahead of any future threats."

Thomas holds security certifications from NCSC, CompTIA, British Computer Society, and IASME.

Pax8 says he has recently worked with Pax8 to help its MSPs align their sales strategy with the UK National Cyber Security Centre Cyber Essentials Framework.
