Former Microsoft VP joins Google Cloud as president of EMEA

Google Cloud has announced the appointment of former Microsoft corporate VP Tara Brady as its new president of EMEA.

Based in London, Google say Brady will lead the vendor's efforts to help customers across EMEA drive transformation of their business in the cloud.

In his role, Tara will be responsible for all of Google Cloud's go-to-market teams in the region, comprising sales, consulting, and its partner ecosystem.

He has more than two decades of experience and joins from Microsoft, where he most recently led the organisation's global sales and strategic partnerships team as corporate vice president.

Prior to Microsoft, he held senior leadership roles at Accenture and PwC.

Google Cloud recently announced relationships in EMEA with private and public sector organisations like Al Azhar University, Deutsche Börse, Kingfisher, Mercedes-Benz, Proximus, Prudential, and Renault.

Alongside the EMEA sales leadership team, Brady has been tasked with driving Google Cloud's 2continued momentum across Europe".

The announcement comes just days after Google release its Q1 2023 results. Google Cloud reported total sales of approximately $7.5bn for the first quarter 2023.

Google Cloud reported grow revenue faster than its two larger competitors, AWS and Microsoft, by increasing sales 28 per cent year over year during first quarter 2023. The company's up by almost $2bn from $5.82bn revenue in first quarter 2022.

The Mountain View, California-based tech giant reported, for the first time in its history, a profit during the first quarter of 2023, after years of generating an operating loss.

Google Cloud generated operating income of $191m in the quarter, compared to an operating net loss of $931m year over year.

For its entire fiscal year 2022, Google Cloud reported an operating loss of nearly $3bn.
