Air IT continues expansion with acquisition of Yorkshire-based IT service provider

British MSP Air IT has made its 11th acquisition since 2020 with the takeover of IT service provider Vital Technology Group.

Backed by private equity firm August Equity, the buy is part of Air IT's wider growth strategy through organic investment and M&A.

The acquisition brings Air IT's total headcount to about 500 employees, a 25 per cent increase since it was last reported in December 2022.

The company operates across eight regional UK offices, now further expanding into Yorkshire.

According to the two service providers, Vital and Air IT are amongst the top one per cent of Microsoft Partners worldwide to hold the prestigious Gold Partner status, and Vital is hoping this will further strengthen its ability to implement and support Microsoft technologies.

Vital claimed joining forces with Air IT could enhance its current capabilities - as well as 24/7 IT support and Microsoft cloud solutions, Air IT has cyber security and business intelligence divisions it could tap into.

"I'm delighted to welcome Vital to Air IT," said Air IT CEO James Stevenson.

"They're a great fit with a similar approach and culture, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service to clients.

"With a strong focus on Microsoft cloud solutions, we're looking forward to bringing its additional knowledge, skills and experience to Air IT.

"The acquisition of Vital continues our strategy of both strong organic and M&A driven growth."

Lee Evans and Alex Dawson, joint managing directors of Vital, added: "We've spent the last 15 years developing and growing Vital into a successful business, and will continue to provide excellent service and support to our clients as we become part of Air IT.

"We're looking forward to offering our clients even more business enhancing opportunities, with additional investment in our people, systems, products and services."

Explaining the changes the acquisition would bring to Vital, Evans added: "Everyone at Vital is excited to begin a new chapter as part of Air IT, with our customer-centric, cloud-first approach, whilst our team and premises in Wetherby become the regional hub for Yorkshire and the Northeast."
