Exertis confirms closure of Raunds site amid consolidation at Burnley NDC
50 roles at risk in site closure, as Exertis consolidates distribution at Burnley site
Exertis has announced a consolidation move that is likely result in the closure of its Raunds warehouse and distribution facility next year.
The company is considering consolidating all stock and warehousing activities into its Burnley Bridge Warehouse.
No final decisions have been reached yet, the distributor highlighted, but 50 roles in its Raunds warehouse have been placed at risk.
Exertis is entering a consultation phase to explore alternatives that could potentially avert job losses.
Over recent years, Exertis has made significant investments in its operational capabilities, including the construction of a state-of-the-art pick tower at its Burnley Bridge warehouse, which CRN wrote about earlier today.
This investment is geared toward boosting pick efficiency and accommodating market demand for order consolidation and kit customization.
Exertis anticipates that, by the fiscal year 2025, the consolidation of stock at a single location will enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness while maintaining high service standards.
The proposed changes place all roles at the Raunds site at risk of redundancy.
Exertis is now initiating collective and individual consultations with affected employees.
Employees at the Raunds facility will receive support packages, and those willing to relocate will be provided with an opportunity to do so, the company stated.
Additionally, Exertis plans to introduce a retention bonus for affected staff.
To aid potential job moves, the company will offer in-house courses on job applications, CV writing, and interview skills.
