Which channel companies are hiring in October 2023?

As channel companies enter Q4 and the dust begins to settle from vendor layoffs earlier this year, there are several hiring bright spots in companies growing their teams this month.

Trustmarque

The UK MSP confirmed to CRN that it is hiring as of October 2023, with CRO Donavan Hutchinson stating: "We are hiring and continue to invest in the business as a whole."

The MSP's UK business is advertising for 12 UK-based roles on its website and LinkedIn at time of writing, across a mix of sales and technical functions.

These roles span the entry and mid-senior level and include both on-site and remote positions.

Hutchinson, who returned to Trustmarque in March to lead its sales organisation, is focused on DEI across Trustmarque as part of his expanded brief.

"DEI is a very key focus for them as an organisation," he told CRN in March.

"Because I'm so prominent within the industry around education and speaking at events, and raising awareness of DEI as a whole, I think [my appointment] solidifies their commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion as a whole."

Westcoast

The UK distie continues to hire in October as it has done "throughout the year," according to executive director, Alex Tatham.

"There are constant changes in the shape and requirements of the business (as there always have been) - but as we develop new vendors or new sales propositions, these require specific skills, not all of which will be trained up internally, e.g. unified communications, services, telecoms - all of which have newly created roles at Westcoast in 2023," Tatham tells CRN.

He clarifies that it is difficult to point to one specific area of the business that is seeing the highest demand for talent, but that Westcoast remains selective on talent and each role requires a business case.

The distie is actively advertising for 11 roles, most of these across sales, with some technical and operations openings in the mix.

Tatham also notes the usual challenges around technical qualifications, however, he points out that Westcoast supports on-the-job training and development for new hires.

"Technical qualifications can be gained at any time," he explains.

"I haven't noticed a massive shortfall in any particular category of new hire this year though. It's important that we recruit more women into IT and there is definitely a shortage of technical female candidates."

"Distribution is a wonderful place to start an IT career. We sit at the heart of the whole channel and it provides a wonderful point from which to navigate a career path across any discipline - back to vendors, resellers, services, cloud, MSPs in a technical or commercial role.

"At Westcoast we love to bring in people in with the right attitude and desire and we will help them improve themselves. As they do, they help us win," he concludes.

Channel veteran Stuart Fenton spoke to CRN about the ongoing hiring spree at newly rebranded Ingentive.

Following a hiring spree earlier this year, which realigned the business to its new sales objectives and expanded its capabilities around big data and AI.

"We've managed to secure all the skill sets that we needed to take forward with wider capabilities and we had a plan at the beginning to increase the capacity of the business and then increase the capability," Fenton said.

However, he did note that Ingentive, formerly known as Akari Solutions, is currently recruiting for two or three technical roles and multiple sales roles.

Its website currently lists openings for Power platform developers, full stack developers, managed services engineers, sales managers, one project manager and one Power BI/data engineer.
