TD SYNNEX promotes Simon Bennett to UK MD for advanced solutions

Current senior director takes over Matt Child’s legacy as UK MD

Distribution powerhouse TD SYNNEX has promoted its senior director of enterprise software and cloud for UK&I, Simon Bennett to the role of UK&I managing director for advanced solutions.

Bennett will step into the role in December, when the current head of advanced solutions, Matt Child, takes up his new post as head of European digital strategy for TD SYNNEX

"I am really excited to be taking on the leadership of the advanced solutions division in the UK and Ireland," said Bennett.

"Over the last four years, Matt has built a fantastic team with incredible depth of capability.

"He has established the advanced solutions business as a leader in the enablement and aggregation of emerging technologies and a genuinely trusted advisor for channel partners.

"I look forward to continuing and building on that success and taking the business into the next exciting phase of its development."

Advanced solutions was one of the distributor's key growth areas in its difficult Q3 results where weak PC demand took a toll on revenues (down 9.1 per cent).

Child added: "It's been a great honour to lead the advanced solutions business in the UK&I.

"We've made tremendous strides and achieved a great deal in key areas of technology growth for our partners.

"As head of the cloud and enterprise software business, Simon has made a really valuable contribution to the advancement and progression of the business.

"I know that I am handing the reins over to someone who, as well as possessing tremendous energy and drive, being full of ideas and a talent for inspiring others, is also a clear and incisive strategic thinker.

"I'm certain that, with his passionate and innovative approach, Simon will lead the advanced solutions business in the UK&I to even greater heights."

Bennett has been with the company since the 2009 acquisition of SDG, where he was an internal sales and operations manager.

He then developed his career with TD SYNNEX (formerly Tech Data), from sales general manager to business unit director and since 2019, has been senior director of enterprise software and cloud in the Advanced Solutions business unit.

He brings a wide range of hybrid technology and infrastructure vendor experience, having been responsible in his previous business unit director roles for Dell Technologies, IBM, Lenovo DCG and Nutanix.

Bennett also has experience in enterprise software and cloud vendors, including VMware, Citrix, Veeam, Veritas, Open Text and Adobe and also global leading hyperscalers like Microsoft, AWS, Google and Oracle.

TD SYNNEX recently announced a new ISV acceleration programme hoping to help partners grow.
