Sectigo to boost EU data control with new cloud platform

Sectigo has launched its EU Cloud Platform enhancing its flagship certificate lifecycle management (CLM) solution, Sectigo Certificate Manager (SCM).

The introduction of Sectigo's European Cloud Platform grants EU-based Certificate Manager customers access to cloud-based private public key infrastructure (PKI) hosted in the EU.

This will enable them to maintain data sovereignty and gain peace of mind as regulators aim to help EU companies retain control of their corporate data.

Ahead of impending reduction in the maximum term for SSL certificates, IT professionals worldwide will need to comprehend the impact of this change to their PKI operations.

As a direct result of this reduction in lifespan, the demand for secure sockets layer (SSL) and transport layer security (TLS) certificates for businesses is anticipated to increase at least fourfold.

This is why Sectigo is seeking to address the gap with its CLM solution.

EU businesses can now utilise Sectigo's locally hosted cloud-based CLM to internally scale their PKI requirements, which is particularly important in light of emerging data protection regulations.

Kevin Weiss, CEO of Sectigo, commented: "The European Union continues to be a vibrant and important marketplace for Sectigo.

"As organisations based in the EU navigate their day-to-day operations while dealing with the changes to SSL certificate lifespans, Sectigo is increasing its investment to ensure our CLM platform meets the latest customer expectations.

"Data sovereignty, compliance, scalability and crypto agility are all important considerations for EU business leaders, and I'm proud to say that this announcement will provide our customers increased peace of mind."

Sectigo's EU Cloud Platform was created by migrating the certificate manager platform entirely to a major public cloud provider.

It now includes Europe-only options for private PKI to provide customers with reliable uptime, high availability, and scalability while complying with local data privacy regimes.

SCM allows organisations to automate the issuance and management of Sectigo certificates, alongside those from other publicly trusted Certificate Authorities (CAs) and private CAs, including Microsoft AD CS, Google Certificate Authority Service, and AWS Private CA.
