SCC taps Grid Edge for energy intelligence as it ramps up digital services
The new partnership adds real-time and predictive insights on energy consumption, emissions and cost to SCC's portfolio of services
IT group SCC has partnered with energy intelligence software provider, Grid Edge, to offer its clients a suite of energy management solutions, the two companies have announced today.
The partnership aims to offer SCC clients real-time and predictive analytics on energy consumption, carbon and costs.
The goal is to enable users to identify and reduce waste, optimise energy use and further integrate renewable energy.
"Our partnership with Grid Edge will provide our clients with the latest and most innovative energy management solutions," said Daniel Cartter, director of innovation at SCC. "Grid Edge's technology will save customers' money while also helping to achieve their current and future energy and sustainability goals."
"We are delighted to partner with SCC to help its clients reduce carbon and costs without negatively impacting comfort levels," said Paul McCorquodale, CEO of Grid Edge AI.
"Our technology makes energy optimisation simple, providing organisations with the insights and tools they need to make better energy decisions."
The partnership touts compliance, reduced emissions and lower energy consumption as some of the main benefits for SCC clients.
The collaboration is another step in adding to SCC's digital services portfolio, which the firm has largely boosted through acquisitions in recent years.
In its latest M&A spree the company acquired a majority stake in digital consultancy, Nimble, in September, as part of its ‘digital solutions and services provider' (DSSP) strategy - a plan that will see the company build a 2,000-person European digital consultancy within the next ten years, it says.
The 150-person strong group headquartered in Sheffield was established in 2016 and helps organisations create digital products and services.
At the time, SCC head of strategy and corporate development, Christine Olmsted, touted the group's "reselling heritage", whilst emphasising its drive to add services, in particular digital transformation, as the next step of its evolution.
"SCC wants to be more to its customers. To do that we've got to expand what we offer them and expand our portfolio," she told CRN at the time.
"This move for us is very much an ‘and' game, not an ‘or' game."
In March, the group acquired near £100m-revenue product reseller Vohkus, in a deal CEO James Rigby labelled a "classic scale play".
