Artificial intelligence has been the buzzword of the year with the debut of game changing chatbots like ChatGPT.

It's made such a splash, in fact, that it leads us to wonder whether anything else could outdo it next year.

To find out, CRN called on the channel to look into their crystal balls and predict what the headline technology of 2024 will be.

But AI couldn't be everyone's answer.

Read below to find out what other tech six channel leaders placed their bets on to make an impact in 2024.

"It's obviously going to be copilots and not just general AI.

"I think we're all going to have a wingman. We're all going to be Maverick with Goose behind us telling us what to do.

"I think Copilot in every industry, every platform, every job, will start to emerge next year and we're all going to get a digital copilot in some form."

"I think a key theme in 2024 will be 'Sayonara to the SIEM'.

"Cloud today is like alphabet soup. So we'll see the unification of cloud security and the end of cloud confusion.

"Cloud security is going to go through a lot of changes next year. There's too many cybersecurity products in the cloud.

"You want people to buy three to five security products when they only need one?

"They have multiple choices, but they only buy one. That's going to happen.

"And then the evolution of the SOC is also a topic for next year.

"People will start thinking about how are they operating their SOC? What's the right mix of AI and humans? What's the right mix of in-house and versus outsource? Who should they use as a partner for that? Do they want vendor delivery? Do they want a partner delivered? Those are all the big questions."

"On the AI thing, it's always been around. It's just because it's become every day for people that we're talking about AI now.

"But for 2024, jumping on that AI bandwagon is going to happen.

"We'll be using AI driven or AI negative tools to empower our customers to protect against an AI empowered attacker.

"Shifting from the legacy that a non-AI native to the modern platforms, we'll see more of that in 2024.

"Embracing more automation, we'll see more of that in 2024 as well and AI will help.

"And then augmenting the CISO functions, like risk management. CISOs are getting asked more and more questions from more and more people in organisations and they just don't have enough time to manage risks."

"AI would be the obvious one to say, but sustainability is where our game is at with Pure.

"It just so happens that we underpin AI in all our technology at the same time. But we do it in the most sustainable manner compared to any other vendor on the planet.

"Why would you not want to deliver on AI ready infrastructure in the most sustainable way through the all-flash datacentre."

"I think you can't get away from the AI trends.

"Every customer has an AI project that's not necessarily cybersecurity related. It's across the whole business.

"So we do see large enterprises setting up digital teams focused on AI.

"We also see the security teams scrambling to understand the risks of AI. We've all heard the horror stories of people dumping corporate information into ChatGPT.

"I think the evolution of AI and the balance of trust and security in the context of how AI is being used, is going to be critical."

"Cybersecurity is massively busy and I think the existing vendors are going to continue to develop and evolve becomes even more important.

"We've seen that over the last couple of years. If you go back two, three, fours years ago, cyber insurance policies was a one page form IT had to fill in. Now it's more than 30 pages.

"So I think the technology and what people have is going to evolve further."
