New year, new job: These companies are hiring in the channel in January 2024

After a quiet end to 2023, and a well deserved break for many in the channel, several companies are back in hiring mode in January.

Though recruitment is likely to pick up later in the year here are the employers who have confirmed to CRN they are hiring as of the beginning of the year.

Pax8

The distributor continues to hire at pace as of January, for both new and existing positions, according to chief people officer Chloe Cameron.

"We are currently looking to hire for sales and tech roles, although we actively strive to promote from within the business for our tech positions. Sales for middle management positions and above also come from the promotion of internal candidates," Cameron tells CRN.

"Since May of [2023], we've welcomed 17 new tech engineers and service tech specialists to our team. We are dedicated to actively fostering and nurturing talent from within our organisation. The most notable growth has been in entry-level sales positions, with consistent expansion in marketing and vendor alliances—typically adding one or two roles each month."

According to Cameron, the distributor is interested in a broad array of skills profiles, but the bulk of hiring is currently happening in entry-level sales and intermediate roles, with a total of 94 new hires made this year.

In terms of challenges, she singles out hiring in Germany and the Netherlands, due to "tight labour markets with a need for native speakers and individuals in proximity to office locations," rather than skills concerns.

The distie is minimally reliant on external recruiters, Cameron adds.

"We handle 99 per cent of the recruitment process internally. The strong employer brand we are consistently building has led candidates to proactively seek opportunities with us. Even when we don't have specific roles aligning with their talent and skill set, candidates actively reach out to explore potential collaborations with Pax8, further enriching our talent pool and growing international community."

Exertis UK

Rival distie Exertis continues to hire across a variety of roles in January. Exertis UK is currently recruiting across 14 permanent roles, primarily across sales, account management and marketing - all advertised directly.

The roles span entry and mid-senior levels, with seven new opportunities advertised in the first week of January.

More broadly, CEO Tim Griffin recently told CRN he expects hiring for data scientists and digital talent to pick up pace, as the skillset becomes increasingly valuable in the channel.

"I think we've become an attractive destination for this talent: data scientists we've recruited over the past year have enjoyed seeing their work really embedded - and at pace - so they get to see the real-world impacts their data tools can deliver," he said at the time.

Ingentive

London-based MSP Ingentive continues to recruit following its acquisition of Software Solved in December, CEO Andrea Bright revealed to CRN.

While the two businesses are currently in an integration phase, this has not led to a pause in hiring, and Ingentive continues active recruitment.

"The business has 31 heads currently, and when merged, we will be between 60-70 as we are currently recruiting for both organisations [Ingentive and Software Solved]," Bright stated at the time.

As of January, Ingentive is hiring for six roles, across sales, technical, partner and project management. Software Solved, meanwhile, is advertising for two roles - a lead programme manager and a lead development manager, with both roles being hybrid or remote.
