As part of a company reorganisation, Trend Micro has laid off its regional director for Switzerland and Austria, Michael Unterschweiger
Trend Micro has laid off regional director for Switzerland and Austria, Michael Unterschweiger.
In a LinkedIn post, Unterschweiger announced the move saying: "After an incredible journey of six years I left Trend Micro.
"It is with mixed emotions that I write this post, as I reflect on the joy I have experienced in building and leading the Alps Team.
"Throughout my time here, I have had the privilege of working alongside with truly remarkable individuals.
"From our valued customers and partners to the exceptional team within the ALPS Org, all the Trenders around the globe and the European management team, I have formed meaningful connections that have enriched both my personal and professional life."
Trend Micro told CRN it had consolidated its business in Germany, Austria and Switzerland into a newly created DACH unit as of January 1, 2024.
The company also said that Hannes Steiner, formerly VP for Germany, has been appointed to lead this unit.
According to Trend Micro, the goal of bundling operations across the three countries is to achieve greater synergies, better connectivity, and make optimal use of in-house expertise.
The company stated that despite the layoffs in Switzerland resulting from the reorganisation, customers and partners can expect ongoing service and support from their existing Trend Micro contacts.
However, the company has also announced a global "structural reorganisation" that will see two per cent of its staff being laid off.
These layoffs also include Daniel Fehl, the long-time head of channel sales, as he also announced on LinkedIn saying "all good things must come to an end, and my journey [at Trend Micro] is no exception".
