'iDoo Tech provides an opportunity to strengthen our Apple business in Spain': Bechtle on latest acquisition

Bechtle announced earlier this week it was acquiring a second Spanish reseller after buying Prosol Ingenieria and Prosol Iscat in August 2023.

The German reselling powerhouse told CRN it hopes the acquisition will strengthen its existing Apple business in the region, and "enhance" its relationship with an important manufacturing partner.

"This was one of the main reasons for the acquisition, along with their great sales team and established leadership," Konstantin Ebert, COO of IT e-commerce at Bechtle said.

"iDoo Tech will handle all of Bechtle's Apple business in Spain in the future, with the clear goal of achieving Apple authorised enterprise reseller status to offer even more comprehensive services and solutions to enterprise customers."

Ebert said iDoo Tech relies on an efficient business model and lean processes.

"The management team around Rafa Cayuelas, [iDoo Tech's MD], has extensive experience in the distribution of Apple products and excellent contacts in the industry. This will open up numerous new opportunities for us in the Spanish IT channel. We also have a focused team that is eager to continue growing."

iDoo Tech customers will also benefit from Bechtle's portfolio and its lifecycle services for their Apple portfolio.

"It is always our goal to be the IT partner of the future for our customers, to understand their business and to offer the best possible solutions. This applies both to the use of suitable hardware and to our extensive portfolio of solutions in the areas of modern work, cloud and IT security."

While the reseller could not provide us with specific information about how much of its business comes from Apple products, the spokesperson told us its e-commerce revenue, which is almost exclusively hardware business, amounted to €2.15bn in 2022.

Securing the future

Distributed working, cloud computing and mobility have drastically increased the complexity and effort involved in deploying, providing and managing IT workstations, Ebert said.

"Doing this in a secure way is a must for us as an IT service provider. Security aspects have become enormously important for companies and are a decisive factor for the future.

"This is why security is now an essential part of every IT project - from hardware procurement to the modern workplace and cloud environments."

Bechtle has often relied on acquisitions that fit into its portfolio as a growth strategy and it plans to continue so.

"In general, acquisitions will always be part of Bechtle's strategy. It is not yet clear whether further Apple resellers will be part of that story.

"That depends on whether a company really suits us. That was the case with iDoo Tech, our 114th acquisition."
