MSP acquirer Evergreen buys second UK business with Digital Origins
The deal marks Evergreen's second expansion into the UK MSP market
Evergreen, a group of managed IT services companies, has acquired Milton Keynes IT services firm Digital Origin.
This is Evergreen's second acquisition in the UK following its takeover of London-based MSP The Final Step last year - marking the company's continued expansion in the region.
Founded in August 2018, Digital Origin provides businesses with solutions that combine all of their IT needs within a single provider.
Its connectivity-as-a-service (CaaS) business model delivers wholesale IT, MSP, and cybersecurity solutions for three sectors—IT connectivity, telephony, and mobile solutions.
Its CEO James Evans will remain in the role and continue building a "thriving organisation."
"The UK IT MSP (CaaS) sector is going through a real shift in terms of how it presents itself, compounded by the UK political backdrop and the tail of the post-Covid ‘hangover' means there is enormous opportunity for organisations that are primed such as Evergreen and Digital Origin, in every aspect," Evans tells CRN.
Evergreen is focused on building out its UK portfolio in 2024, adding the likes of Digital Origin to help lead these efforts.
That is according to Sydney Hockett, vice president of M&A at Evergreen, who reveals to CRN that Evergreen plans to make more deals this year and explains its rationale behind the Digital Origin buyout.
"We were excited about the scale and geographic presence that Digital Origin would bring us in the UK market, but equally as excited by the service offering and technical expertise," Hockett says.
"Digital Origin has done an incredible job building off a base of IT services offerings and adding complementary services to their portfolio to be a one stop shop for all of their customers IT needs. Digital Origin also has a display offering used by banks/FC to display market rates, which is an exciting piece of proprietary IP."
Evergreen is a private-equity backed holding company that bills itself as an acquirer of managed IT companies, government service providers, and application management companies committed to "marrying capital allocation with inspired operations."
Based in San Francisco, California, it has acquired more than 80 IT services since 2017.
