Welcome to the new year

As CRN publishes its first issue of 2010, Sara Yirrell speculates on the year ahead

Sara Yirrell: Make 2010 the year you get interactive with CRN

I don’t think I’m alone in saying I’m not a fan of January.

The mornings are dark, the evenings are dark, and at the moment it is the coldest winter we have had for 100 years apparently.

However on the other side of the coin, it is the start of a brand new year, and hopefully one full of opportunity.

Early reports hint that 2010 is going to be another tough year, and I agree.

But saying that – I think there is still plenty of opportunity out there and as always the year is what you make of it. We at CRN are certainly not planning to sit on our laurels.

I was speaking to an old contact of CRN’s this week – Paul Barlow who is coming back into the channel with a brand new reseller venture.

He is very confident that despite the economic backdrop – the time is absolutely right to launch a new company.

I am also looking forward to seeing what technology is going to become the buzzword of 2010 – we can safely say 2009 was dominated by cloud computing. Maybe it will continue its dominance as more companies catch onto the technology and the concept.

Regardless of what changes, one thing will definitely remain the same – CRN still wants to be the channel mouthpiece – and I hope that 2010 will be the year that more of our valued readers finally get interactive with us.
