Every vote will count
Sara Yirrell kicks off the countdown to the Channel Awards
Sara Yirrell: Well done to all of you who have made the shortlists.
It is with some amount of incredulity that I am writing this editorial to say that the Channel Awards 2008 shortlist is out.
It really does not seem like five minutes since the last judging day. This year the panel of judges, myself included, have spent many combined hours reading through all the entries and after some interesting discussions during the judging day last week, have reached a conclusion.
I know we say this every year, but some of the categories were extremely closely contested and it was very difficult to reach a final decision. However, the resulting shortlists are what we deemed to be the best entries for 2008.
It is now that the important part starts: voting, voting, voting.
I cannot stress enough how important voting is. Winning an award is all down to votes, so make sure your customers register their votes online.
As editor it will be my job to go through the votes after voting closes on 10 October and ensure there is no block voting or other unfair practices.
I would like to thank all the judges for their hard work and support reading through more than 250 entries was no mean feat.
Well done to all of you who have made the shortlists it is a sign that you have beaten some very tough competition indeed already, but please don’t take this as a cue to sit back and relax.
Every single vote counts. Good luck to all those listed and let the battle commence.
