Career so far: I only joined the IT world in 2005, having sold my giant video screen business in 2004. We used to install LED megascreens at major music and sporting events around the world, which was lots of fun. I joined Chiltern IT as managing director in 2005 and bought the company earlier this year.
If you could be anyone else for a week, who would you be and what would you do? My eight-year-old son Max. I’d love to remember what it feels like to be that age again.
What would you have as your last meal? Ten courses at Le Manoir. What is the best corporate jolly you have ever been on/taken partners on? HP took me on a fabulous trip to Taormina in Sicily. Playing golf on the slopes of Mount Etna was quite a buzz.
Do you see the cloud as a threat or an opportunity? Anything new creates an opportunity in the spare parts and recycling markets. Everything breaks at some point and we’ll be there with the right parts to fix it. If it can’t be fixed, we can recycle it.
Have any of your predictions come true this year? After considerable investment in people and infrastructure, I predicted this would be the year of significant growth for Chiltern IT. Thankfully, this is turning out to be true so far.
What do you see as the channel’s biggest challenge in 2011? The inexorable rise in’grey’ and generic hardware.
What is the best part of your day? Mornings, afternoons and evenings.
