Nick Culley

Career so far I joined Midwich 20 years ago as product manager. In 1999 I was appointed as product marketing director and in 2001 I was part of an MBO team when we bought the business from Avnet. I became managing director in 2004 and in October 2010 stepped down to my current part-time role as non-executive chairman.

If you could be anyone else for a week, who would you be and what would you do? Probably David Cameron. In a week it would be great to get stuck in to some of the social challenges and appalling inequity in this country.

Cloud – friend or foe? I’ll sit on the fence – a bit of both. Has 2011 been as bad as everyone said it would be? I think there’s a very mixed set of results. We are still busy and have plenty of new opportunities to explore.

What would you have as your last meal? Roast pork (Suffolk) and all the trimmings.

Who would you like to be stuck in a lift with? Alicia Keys – just to hear her sing, of course.

Have any of your predictions come true this year? Yes – but I can’t share some of the more interesting ones!

What do you see as the channel’s biggest challenge in 2012? Maintaining a strong focus on high quality, consistent service to business partners – customers and suppliers, at a time when many markets are flat or in decline.

What is the best part of your day? Story time with my daughter still takes some beating, closely followed by putting my feet up on the sofa with my wife, stepson and a large glass of shiraz.
