Antony Young

Career so far: I have spent just over 22 years working in the channel from being a junior field service engineer through to a European management role at Bell Micro. I'm now enjoying sharing my experiences with lots of different organisations as an independent development consultant.

If you could be anyone else for a week, who would you be and what would you do? I'd be the unknown athlete from an unknown pacific island that beats Usain Bolt in the 100m Olympic final. I'd then have six days to party and sign some lifetime sponsorship deals.

Cloud - friend or foe? Friend for those who adapt and adopt. Foe for those who think it's business as usual.

Has 2011 been as bad as everyone said it would be? It has been pretty tough but it has also seen some channel organisations truly innovate, invest and succeed.

What would you have as your last meal? A really well cooked fillet steak and a good bottle of red wine.

Who would you like to be stuck in a lift with? Simon Cowell and put an end to the nonsense that invades and occupies our homes, TV and newspapers every weekend.

Have any of your predictions come true this year? Yes. I didn't get chance to play enough golf and England didn't win the Rugby World Cup.

What do you see as the channel's biggest challenge in 2012? It has two: avoid annoying customers by cloudifying things that are not cloudy; and transforming your business to deliver the things that are.

What is the best part of your day? I'm an early riser so I get a lot of thinking done before breakfast and enjoy running or cycling when there is nobody around.
