9. Misco - £275.7m

The online VAR saw its most recent annual results boosted by the addition of the business of Systemax stablemate Wstore, which was folded into its larger rival towards the end of 2010.

For the calendar year 2011, Misco UK saw sales grow 8.5 per cent, with operating profit surging 28.9 per cent to almost £12.6m. This equates to margins of 4.55 per cent.

At the start of 2012 the reseller got a new boss, with Systemax appointing former Dell, HP and Sun big hitter Pim Dale to the newly created role of chief executive of its European Technology Products Group.

The new head honcho has seen his firm enjoy a steady stream of success in the public sector, with Misco landing spots on a succession of big-ticket frameworks. These include the further education Crescent Purchasing Consortium and the Scottish National IT Hardware & Associated Services Framework, for which Misco was selected as the sole supplier for up to £15m worth of notebooks.
