47. European Electronique - £46.2m

After reporting 50 per cent growth in FY11, the public sector specialist claims maintaining revenue at a similar level was an achievement in the current public spending climate. Sales fell from £48.8m in the prior year, while operating profit declined from £1.2m to £1m. The Oxfordshire-based VAR sealed a number of landmark contract wins and framework places, according to the FY12 directors’ report. These include some early wins in the nascent free school market, including Bristol Free School and the Toby Young-backed West London Free School. European Electronique is also to pair up with some big-name construction firms through the centrally funded Priority School Building Programme, which launched in summer 2011.
