Director, Channelmoney
Career so far I have spent 30 years in insolvency and corporate re-construction, with a niche in the channel.
If you could be anyone else for a week, who would you be? Bob Dylan. The man is a genius.
What will next year’s most overhyped industry buzzword be? Convergence.
Has 2012 been a good, bad or ugly year? Good and interesting. There has been a bit more weeding out of businesses which really should not be trading at all in the first place. There has been a bit more consolidation taking place at distie level and good opportunities to buy, but the owners need a reality check on valuation.
What would you have as your last meal? My wife is an excellent cook, so anything by her.
What keeps you awake at night? Unfinished business.
What piece of technology could you not be without? My iPhone.
Have any of your predictions come true this year? Except for the odd event which, usually out of luck, pans out just how you would have wished it, everything else appears to arise out of randomness and spontaneity, so just like last year.
What is the best partner/customer trip you have ever been on? Loads of restaurants, most of them heavily over-sold, standard fare passed off as something else. I asked for eggs Benedict the other day and got two hard boiled eggs on a mould-encrusted crumpet. Bring back the transport café, I say.
What do you see as the channel’s biggest challenge in 2013? How resellers can survive without investment in managed services.
