Glenn Graham

UK channel sales director, Symantec

Career so far I have been at Symantec for more than 10 years, responsible for the management of all the company’s Managed Channel Partners through a team of partner and distribution account managers. Prior to joining Symantec I worked at Sun Microsystems, Zenith Data Systems and Fujitsu Software.

If you could be anyone else for a week, who would you be? I would definitely be Jimi Hendrix. To be able to think of those songs and riffs, and then have the pleasure of playing them to huge audiences and get all that appreciation…

What will next year’s most overhyped industry buzzword be? This would have to be mobility. It means lots of different things to lots of people.

Has 2012 been a good, bad or ugly year? 2012 has been a good year. We have successfully launched specialisation, and we’re now seeing the benefits coming through for our partners.

What would you have as your last meal? Roast beef and Yorkshire pudding with all the trimmings.

What keeps you awake at night? Nothing – I sleep like a baby.

What piece of technology could you not be without? My BlackBerry 9900.

Have any of your predictions come true this year? Yes, I predicted that this year we would see the BYOD story really come to fruition. I also predicted that Spurs wouldn’t finish in the top three of the Premier League.

What is the best partner/customer trip you have ever been on? This would have to be the trip to Marrakesh with Symantec and our partners. The travel, accommodation and activities were all amazing, and I thoroughly enjoyed the culture and cuisine.

What do you see as the channel’s biggest challenge in 2013? Partners need to further their ability to blend their business to accommodate the following: upholding appropriate margins, driving services revenue and maintaining value to their customers.
