Sara Gemmell

Managing director, Networks First

Career so far I joined Networks First in November 2009 as managing director. I was attracted to Networks First by its reputation for delivering a quality service to partners and customers. I have many years of experience gained in senior positions in sales, consultancy and marketing at companies such as HP and Telenor.

If you could be anyone else for a week, who would you be and why? Fiona Bruce as I have always wanted to read the news.

What will next year's most overhyped industry buzzword be? Big data.

Has 2012 been a good, bad or ugly year? This year has been a good year for Networks First. Having realigned our business strategy we are aiming for 2013 to be great. We are on that journey from good to great.

What would you have as your last meal? Smoked Loch Fyne salmon followed by roast haunch of venison with red currant jelly. Finished off with a dram, of course.

What keeps you awake at night? Mr Rex at Rex Investments (@Rex_CEO) - when he's jet setting around the world he thinks I'm working the same hours.

What piece of technology could you not be without? My sat nav - as much as I railed against using it to begin with!

Have any of your predictions come true this year? Yes, Andy Murray won his first Grand Slam title and the Olympics and Paralympics proved to be compelling viewing.

What is the best partner/customer trip you have ever been on? Going to the Olympics this summer courtesy of Cisco.

What do you see as the channel's biggest challenge in 2013? The continued pressure on margin as we get squeezed between the vendors and large enterprises and public sector organisations.
