President EMEA, Insight Enterprises

Career so far I founded software reseller WindowLine in 1989, have been vice president Europe/managing director Canada at Microwarehouse, and I was headhunted in 2002 to turn around Insight UK.

If you could be anyone else for a week, who would you be? I would not want to be anyone else.

What will next year's most overhyped industry buzzword be? Public cloud, as private cloud will still be the premier solution in B2B.

Has 2012 been a good, bad or ugly year? For Insight, 2012 has been a strong year with significant growth in our business around Europe. The wider IT industry is in a period of unprecedented change and 2012 has seen an acceleration in mobile and private cloud that has probably caught out many within the industry.

What keeps you awake at night? How to change our business faster.

What piece of technology could you not be without? Home broadband.

Have any of your predictions come true this year? Mostly, although I had hoped that there would be a wider assortment of tablet PC's that were successful.

What is the best partner/customer trip you have ever been on? A HP worldwide event last year - there were really meaningful business discussions with senior execs where meaningful actions followed quickly.

What do you see as the channel's biggest challenge in 2013? The IT channel is so diverse and filled with some really fabulous companies. No single channel player will be expert in all parts of the industry, therefore the channel will need to increase cooperation in order to proactively provide complex solutions to clients. Competition is no longer a simple concept.
