Career so far Four years of cost accountancy, I then set up CMS in 1988 and have had an amazing 25-year journey with CMS ever since. And it's getting better every year.

What was your first job and were you any good at it? My first job was an analyst at a publishing company. It was interesting for a period and I met their expectations.

Who was your top teenage pin-up? Freddie Mercury and Queen.

My colleagues won't know this about me but... I was a DJ during my college days.

What is your favourite snack? Toasted cheese sandwich.

What has been your career high point to date? Receiving the ICT person of the year award earlier this year.

Has 2013 been good, bad or ugly? It's been a good year. We integrated our three companies onto one platform with minimal impact to our business and the economy is looking up for the future.

What do you say when asked at a party what you do for a living? A company director.

If I wasn't working in the channel I would probably be... making hay somewhere else. No idea where; probably in the US.

What will be the channel's biggest challenge in 2014? Growth and new innovation.
