Andrew King

Managing director, Grey Matter (Grey Matter, Sigma Software Distribution)

Career so far

I have worked for Microsoft and Grey Matter

What was your first job and were you any good at it?

Technical support at Microsoft - I rapidly moved into product management and marketing.

Who was your top teenage pin-up? Julia Roberts (ok, maybe this was after I was a teenager).

My colleagues won't know this about me but...

Mmmm, I have to have some secrets!

What is your favourite snack?

Nuts.

What has been your career high point to date?

Helping Grey Matter get recognised as the partner of choice when software vendors have tough problems to solve.

Has 2013 been good, bad or ugly?

It's been a good year for us - turnover up, profits up, staff numbers up. We know what we are good at and keep doing more of it.

What do you say when asked at a party what you do for a living?

I work in the software industry - but don't ask me to fix your laptop.

If I wasn't working in the channel I would probably be...

A classic car dealer.

What will be the channel's biggest challenge in 2014?

Continuing to add value for customers and partners.
